My name is Lisa Ish.  I am 18 and a senior at Menomonee Falls High School.  I have been bowling in leagues since I was 5 years old.  I currently bowl in the Scratch Scholarship League at AMF Menomonee Falls and I bowl for the Menomonee Falls Varsity Girls bowling team.  The Menomonee Falls Varsity Girls bowling team went undefeated last year, my junior year, which allowed us to automatically make it to state.  From there, my team qualified for the televised finals, we ended in fourth.  It was one of the best experiences I’ve had so far in bowling and I hope to go back to state again this year.  Our team is yet again undefeated with three matches left in the season.  I am going to miss high school bowling more than any other part of high school because bowling is my passion and high school bowling has been the biggest part of my life for the past four years.

In the past four years, I have improved my game dramatically.  I have learned how to read the lanes better so I can make the needed adjustments to pick up my spares.  My shot right now, as a senior, gives me a lot of potential for my future.  I would like to just take time to thank everyone who has been there supporting me and helping me improve my shot; my parents, John and Judy Ish, Joey Cerar, my high school bowling coaches, Scott Ahrens, Jim Vetter and Karla Kossow, along with my league advisor Neil Wachowiak and my other coaches such as Wally Wright and Chris Wodushek.  Also, thanks to my friends and other family who have come out to cheer me on and support me.

My current high game is a 279 but since it happened in high school practice, it isn’t an official high game.  My high game in league was a 269 with my high series being a 667.  I currently hold a 190 average in the Scratch Scholarship League.  I have made it to state for singles both my freshman and sophomore year but missing it my junior year by a spare.  That is why spares are so important; you can lose by just one spare.  My junior year in leagues, I qualified for the Pepsi tournament which took place in Schofield last year.  I ended up winning the tournament for the handicap girls division, giving me a $750 scholarship and the chance to go to Nationals.  This past July, I went to Detroit for the Nationals.  Since I did so well in the state tournament, they raised my average for Nationals giving me no handicap against many little girls with a lot of handicap.  I averaged a 198 scratch over 8 games, which still wasn’t good enough to be in the top 16 girls. Although my high school years are coming to an end, I’m not letting this end my bowling career.  I am attending UW-Whitewater this fall for college, although I’m undecided about my course of study, I know that I will be trying out for their girls bowling team in hopes of competing on their NCAA Varsity team.
